Note: Warforged have a different origin and nature on CD than they do in normal D&D lore, tying their origins and nature closer to the Faerun setting and our server's history in particular.
Warforged are living constructs, built from a variety of materials - most are metallic in nature but some are constructed with wood, stone, or other sources depending on their purpose and skillset - reinforced with exotic materials from the plane of Mechanus. Created by a joint operation between a powerful Inevitable and a mortal wizard seeking a way to protect Cormyr from the ravages of the Far Plane, Warforged's bodies were created to be able to withstand the corruptive and warping nature of that alien world and to secure the safety of a mortal soul housed within.
All Warforged were once members of other mortal races - humans, elves, halflings, half-orcs, dragonblooded, planetouched, and more have all been part of its effort and volunteered for the ensuing transformation, sacrificing their mortal flesh and blood to have their souls moved into their new mechanical bodies all in hopes of standing a chance to fight and survive - and retain their sanity - in the face of the threat of the Far Realm. Whatever they were before, they are now a race of living constructs, mechanical in nature but still retaining much of the features of living entities.
