While the traditional core races will always be available for play, CD offers a wide variety of options. These range from canonical variants on the standard races to more unusual concepts that require an application.
There are certain rules that may apply to these characters, or that govern certain special abilities such as scent, spell resistance, NPC reactions or telepathy.
NOTE: In-game, you'll have to set your reaction level through the calculator NUI after using the command "/reaction". This is different for each character and their individual, unique traits, and so has to be set on every PC. This will determine how much you need to cover up when in different places.
No application is required for the following:
Dwarf
Elf
Gnome
Halfling
Based upon your Character's race, the following guidelines should be followed as far as the age of majority:
Note that child and childlike characters are not permitted on CD.
Based upon your Character's race, the following minimum and maximum heights are allowed by talking to the Appearance/Body Changer illithid in both the starting area, and in the OOC room. (/afk)
Exceptions are allowed in limited cases, but are typically left to exotic races and unusual backgrounds, to an absolute maximum of 80% (min) and 130% (max), because animations start to break after those upper and lower limits.
Everything below, as well as unusual character origins, may not be played without an approved character application. Please read the rules on unusual character origins and NPC reactions before applying.
Exotic options come in two kinds, and the difference decides what you keep from the race you pick at character creation:
These are exotic variants of a base race rather than different races, so they follow the template rule: the base race's racial feats are kept and only the listed values change.
Dwarf
Elf
Gnome
Halfling
Human
Applied on top of a base race. The base race's ability modifiers, bonuses and racial feats are kept.
Full racial replacements. The character loses the ability modifiers, bonuses and racial feats of the race used at creation.
